Bike Walk Week!

 In Uncategorized

Its Bike Walk Week in the Twin Cities. After a much too long winter and a very wet and stormy spring, it’s finally starting to feel like summer in Minnesota. There are plenty of ways to take advantage of great weather. You can join a recreational sports league and play softball, kickball, ultimate, or anything that interests you (there are ALOT of options). You can find a great BBQ recipe and fire up the grill on these warm summer evenings. You can blow off some excess energy by competing in a triathlon or other endurance event, like we did this past weekend. The list can go on forever with possibilities, but we feel there is one option that stands out above the rest for a few reasons. Take a trip by bike or on foot that you normally would have done by car.

It doesn’t matter where you live, just make the pledge to try it once a day this week. Bikewalkweek.org gives some advice and information about the benefits of simply driving less. Better health and cleaner air are enough of a reason to ditch the car as much as possible, but the amount of money that can be saved is very surprising and can provide a huge incentive to drive less. Did you know that families can save $5,000-$10,000 per year by reducing the number of cars in their driveways? Families also spend more money on gas and auto expenses than groceries or utilities. Visit the website, sign up and make the pledge to travel more on bike or by foot, encourage others to do the same. It’s a great opportunity to see your city on two wheels instead of four
