An All-Star Day in St. Louis!
We loved our event in Atlanta so much with the Boys and Girls Club, we thought, “let’s work with another Boys and Girls Club! We didn’t waste any time and planned to partner with the Boys and Girls Club of St. Louis for an All-Star day on Saturday, July 7.
Once again, the B4B team prepared for 30+ kids. Our first one in Atlanta was a raging success and one of the most wild events we had held. Well, why not go for that kind of fun again! The event was even set-up to occur at the old Sportsman’s Park, which was where the St. Louis Cardinals played way back when.
We were excited to work with the BGC in St. Louis because they were planning for their first of an annual event – their very own All-Star Day! That was a PERFECT match for the Biking for Baseball team. BGC had scheduled to bring the Redbird Little League team, have a grill-out for all attendees, the Youth of the Year was to throw out the first pitch, local kids involved with the program were to sing the National Anthem prior to the game and even have Fredbird the Cardinals mascot in attendance!
Well hot dog! we were excited! To top that off, we had 20 volunteers from Target help out with the event and families in attendance to cheer on participants. Everyone was excited and ready for a fun day at the park!
Even though it was a record high of 108 that day in St. Louis, the kids braved it out with multiple water breaks and we had a great time with a great group of kids. Some of the kids already had nicknames on their jerseys! Swipy (because he stole a lot of bases) and The Professor (he didn’t know why he was called The Professor, but he had glasses like The Professor from X-Men).
Thanks to Marvin and the Boys and Girls Club for partnering with Biking for Baseball for an All-Star Day!
