Winter Biking!

 In Uncategorized

Winter officially starts tomorrow, but where I live it’s been “winter” for a month. The cold, snow, and short daylight hours may make it seem like a bad time to ride your bicycle. That is far from the truth. Winter biking is a great way to get outside, get some much needed exercise, and decompress from the day.

Winter biking does take a little more planning and preparation, but you can trust me; IT’S WORTH IT! We will dedicate some blog posts to how to prepare your bike and what apparel to wear while riding. This post is a reminder to cyclists to take one simple little step that will help you stay safe in these dark winter months.

USE FRONT AND BACK LIGHTS FOR YOUR BIKE!!!!!

I rarely use my lights in the summer months. Only when I am coming home from something late at night. During the winter, most people are at work during the daylight hours, so commuters need lights on both sides of their commute. Lights are very necessary to make autos see you. They are cheap and easy lifesavers.

These are my lights on my commuter bike. They are easy to remove, so I take them with me when I lock my bike up.

Get some lights, wear your helmet, and enjoy getting around on two wheels in the cold!
