Resting Up

 In Uncategorized

These past few days have been full of relaxing, catching up on different things, and enjoying the California weather. It’s different not hopping on the bicycle every morning to bike for the day, but I don’t mind it much. The break has been nice, refreshing, and much needed.

I want to give a huge Hi5 to Jennifer, who has taken me under her wing to give me a great California experience. She heard about my trip a few weeks ago, and immediately wanted to lend a helping hand to support the trip. On Wednesday night, she took me down to Santa Cruz where she took me out on the Chardonnay. A massive sail boat, that cruises out on the ocean. I’d never been out in the ocean, so I was definitely down for the opportunity. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much wind, which made sailing a little difficult. However, it was still fun to see the different sights offered by Santa Cruz. From otters, to sea lions,  I saw it all. A good evening indeed. She then treated me to a lobster dinner, which was delicious. Not to mention some ice cream for dessert! Incredible.

The following day, I ran some errands, did some chores, did some small maintenance on my bike. Nothing too crazy. These off days are nice, but at the same time, I miss the biking. I’ll be getting my fair share the rest of the trip. When I hop on my bike, it’s me, my bike, and the road. The rhythm of my pedal strokes, the clicking of the shifting of the chain. The brisk, cool morning air. It’s my safe haven. Biking is fun. It’s calm. It’s excercise. There’s satisfaction in knowing that you, yourself powered the machine to your destinaion. You used your own energy. It’s a unique, yet satisfactory feeling.

Last evening, Jennifer again treated me to a splendid dinner with her friends. It was a fancy restaurant, one I’m not accustomed to. Basically, I ordered what I could actually pronounce on the menu. The dinner was supurb, but the people were better. They had ton of stories about their different adventures, and I loed to hear them. From travel craziness, to talking about Pablo Sandoval. We covered all the topics, a fun group of people to meet!

Today, I’m headed to the A’s game. Game No. 3. I’m quite excited for it. The Coliseum has a rich sports history, and the fans, from what I hear, are second to none. Especially the ones out in right field. I can’t wait to experience the game!

I’ll be sure to post a big old update!

Until next time. I’ll talk to you later.
